The application form for the RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 will be available from January 31, 2026. The last date to submit the application is March 2, 2026, until 11:59 PM. RRB Group D Vacancy 2026
The Railway Recruitment Board is likely to release the notification for recruitment against the Group D positions for more than 22,000 vacancies. It will be made public for following position:

RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria 2026
To apply for a Group D position under the Indian Railways, you must meet the nationality, educational qualifications, and age limit requirements, which are given below.
- You are an Indian citizen, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or you came from Tibet and obtained permanent residency before January 1, 1962.
- You must have passed Class 10 Exam from any recognized board, or you must have obtained an ITI Trade Certificate or NAC (National Apprenticeship Certificate) from a recognised institution.
- As of January 1, 2026, your age should not be less than 18 years or more than 33 years. If you belong to the OBC-NCL category, you can claim a 3-year age relaxation. A 5-year age relaxation can be claimed if you belong to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe category.
Note that for the candidates belonging to the PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) category, an additional age relaxation of 10 years is applicable.
RRB Group D Application Fee 2026
Payment of the application fee is mandatory for applying to any Group D position under Indian Railways. The application fee for all male candidates belonging to the UR, OBC, and EWS categories is ₹500, of which ₹400 will be refunded if they participate in the computer-based test.
All female candidates, transgender candidates, and male candidates belonging to the SC/ST, PWD, or ESM categories are required to pay an application fee of only ₹250, which is totally refundable. The same condition applies for the refund: participation in the CBT. If you do not participate in the CBT, you will not receive a refund.
RRB Group D Selection Process 2026
The selection process for Group D posts under Indian Railways consists of two stages: first, a computer-based test, and second, a physical efficiency test. All candidates who apply to participate in this recruitment drive will have to appear for the CBT conducted by the RRB. If they pass the CBT, they will be called for the next stage, which is the PET.
One important thing you should know is that the final selection list will be prepared based on the CBT scores, as the PET is qualifying in nature. The final selection list will only include the names of candidates whose normalized score in the CBT is equal to or higher than the cut-off score for the respective category.
RRB Group D CBT 2026
The computer-based test for Group D posts, conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board, is tentatively scheduled to be held in the last quarter of 2026. The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes, but candidates in the PWD (Persons with Disabilities) category will receive an additional 30 minutes.
The exam will consist of a total of 100 multiple-choice questions from four different sections, details of which are provided in the table below.

In this CBT, each question carries one mark, and 0.33 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The medium of the examination will be:

The RRB has also released details regarding the minimum qualifying marks. For candidates belonging to the EWS category, the qualifying marks are 40%, while for SC, ST, PWD, and OBC-NCL candidates, it is only 30%.
RRB Group D PET 2026
The Physical Efficiency Test for various Group D positions under Indian Railways will commence after the release of the CBT results. It is likely to be conducted in the first quarter of 2027. Information regarding the events included in the PET can be found in the table below.

RRB Group D Pay Scale 2026
If you are appointed to any Group D post under Indian Railways, you will receive a salary according to Level 1 of the pay scale as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), which starts at ₹18,000 and goes up to ₹56,900.
Initially, the salary you receive will include a basic pay of ₹18,000, along with Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Medical Allowance, and other benefits provided by the Government of India.
