ISC Junior Science Officer: Eligibility Conditions

The ISC seeks the following qualifications and skills in the candidates for the Junior Science Officer post:

  • You must have a post-graduate degree in social or natural science, or humanities in any of the fields: environment, sustainable development, international relations, security, public policy, political science, and development. 
  • You should at least have 2 years of working experience; you will be preferred if it is an international level of work.
  • You can translate the technical details into detailed insight that even a non-expert can understand. 
  • You can handle multiple-stakeholder projects and can adapt to the changes while working on a tight schedule. 
  • You must be proficient in writing and speaking English, and have the analytics and programming skills.  
  • If you are not a resident, you must have a French work permit or be an EU Member State national, because ISC cannot offer visa sponsorship. 
  • Other than that, you must be able to engage, network, and have project management skills, and you can nurture trust and positive relationships with all colleagues and members. 

Preferences:

  • If you have experience in administration, design, and reporting of science projects, you will get the preference, or
  • You have multilateral system knowledge or global policies, and an interest in science policies, diplomacy at national, global, or regional levels. 
  • You have experience in working with scientific or technical committees, and have knowledge of French and other languages. 

ISC Junior Science Officer: Key Responsibilities

As the Junior Science Officer at ISC and a part of the Global Science Policy Unit, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • You will be responsible for assisting organizations in scientific meetings, events, and conferences.
  • You will support the organization’s projects and programmes from their planning to implementation, reporting, and reviewing them. 
  • You will coordinate with the international scientific unions, research councils, associations, national science academics, regional and international societies, and foundations. 
  • You will collaborate with other ISC member organizations, partners, and UN organizations for the organization’s work and initiatives. 
  • You will represent the ISC at the conferences and big events, and provide topic and methodological expertise for the science programmes. 
  • You will collaborate internally and communicate with the team on budget compliance, policies, and other matters for better results. 

ISC Junior Science Officer: Benefits
