The notification for Short Service Commission Officers for various entries was made public on January 9, 2026, by the Indian Navy for January 2027 course and the window to apply online is available from January 24, 2026 on the official website at https://joinindiannavy.gov.in/.

The application form for the grant of SSC for courses commencing from January 2027 onwards at the Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala, Kerala will be available until 5:00 PM on February 24, 2026. It is highly recommended to apply without waiting for the late minute rush.

Application Fee

In order to apply for the Indian Navy SSC Officer January 2027 course, there is no requirement of application fee payment. Whether you are a male or female or below to any category, you needn’t pay even a single rupee.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Indian Navy SSC Officer January 2027 course consists of three stages, which are Shortling, SSB (Service Selection Board) Interview and Medical Examination. 

  • Shortlisting: It will be done based on the applicants’ performance in the qualifying exam. Those candidates who score well in the qualifying exam will definitely be shortlisted for the SSB interview.
  • SSB Interview: It is a five-day process that includes two components: the first is a Screening Test, and the second consists of Psychological Tests, Group Tasks, and a Personal Interview.
  • Medical Examination: It is the final stage of the selection process, and only those candidates selected by the SSB will be able to participate. It will be conducted according to the standards of the Indian Navy.

Notes:

  • Candidates who are shortlisted will receive details regarding the SSB Interview on their registered email address and mobile number, including both the date and venue. 
  • To participate in the SSB interview, applicants will need to download their call letter and make a print copy to carry it to the venue, which they can access through their candidate login.
  • For the Indian Navy SSC (Short Service Commission) Officer course starting in January 2027, only those candidates who qualify the medical examination will be shortlisted.

SSB Interview 

The Indian Navy has not yet publicly announced when the SSB interviews will be held for the Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer course commencing in January 2027, but it is likely to be conducted in March/April 2026.

Pay Scale

If you are shortlisted for the Indian Navy SSC Officer January 2027 course, you will be appointed as Sub Lieutenant. The pay scale for this position comes under the Level 10 of 7th CPC, whose monthly basic pay starts from ₹56,100.

In addition to basic pay, you will also get the additional benefits, which includes dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance and other benefits provided by the GOI.
