The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has officially released a notification on January 22, 2026, for appointments to the post of Assistant Professor in various disciplines for Government Colleges under the Department of Education.

The application form for this recruitment has been available since 5:00 PM on January 23, 2026 and will remain available until 11:00 AM on February 23, 2026. Candidates who are interested in applying are advised to submit their application form without waiting for the deadline.

Number Of Vacancies 

According to the advertisement released by the APPSC for the recruitment of Assistant Professors, the total number of vacancies is 145. You can see the category-wise number of vacancies for different subjects in the table given below.

Horizontal reservation is applicable for candidates belonging to the person with benchmark disability (PwBD) category. 

Eligibility Criteria 

The eligibility criteria to apply for the recruitment of Assistant Professor for Government Colleges under the Department of Education are as follows:

• You are an Indian citizen and you live in any state or territory of the country.
• You have pursued a master’s degree with 55% marks in the relevant subject from a recognized institution, the minimum requirement is 50% for SC and ST category candidates.
• You must have a NET / SLET / SET (National Eligibility Test / State Level Eligibility Test / State Eligibility Test), or a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) as per UGC rules.
• Your age shouldn’t be below 30 years, the upper age relaxation is applicable for 5 for SC, and ST, and 7 years for APST.

Application Fee

In order to apply for the APPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026, you are required to pay the application fee of 200 rupees. Individuals who belong to Arunachal Pradesh Schedule Tribes are required to pay only 150 rupees.

The application fee is strictly non-refundable, meaning you will not receive a refund under any circumstances after making the payment. You can make the payment using a debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, or any other provided payment gateway.

Selection Process 

The selection process for Assistant Professors in various disciplines for Government Colleges under the Department of Education, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, has been streamlined. It consists of two stages, which are shortlisting and an interview. 

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications. All shortlisted candidates will have to participate in an interview, which will be conducted in a face-to-face mode and will last approximately half an hour. This interview carries 100 marks. 

After the interview, the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission will release the final selection list based on the candidates’ performance in the interview. The minimum qualifying marks for the interview are 50, and there is no minimum qualifying requirement for the PwD category.

Pay Scale 

After being appointed to the position of Assistant Professor in any government college in Andhra Pradesh that falls under the Education Department, your pay scale will range from ₹57,700 to ₹182,400 under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Initially, your basic salary will be ₹57,700.  In addition to this, you will receive dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance, travel allowance, and other benefits. Your gross monthly salary will be around ₹95,000.
